St Flannans 2-11; De La Salle 1-6
De La Salle College failed at the final hurdle in their bid to win the prestigious Dean Ryan Cup when they fell to a very skilful St Flannans side in Cashel last week. In the end, the famous Clare college proved too strong for a game De La Salle outfit who finished the game with fourteen men following the sending off of full-forward Tom Mullally.
De La Salle started very well and took the lead when Barry O’Sullivan scored but this was cancelled out almost immediately by Joe Barry. St Flannans had a wonderful opportunity to really assert their authority in the 8th minute when they were awarded a penalty after Austin Gleeson fouled Barry. Dylan Casey’s penalty was saved by Gleeson but it proved to be only a temporary stop-gap as St Flannans were dominant all over the field.
