WICAF returns to Waterford city on May 31st and June 1st 2025 for a second year, celebrating the creative industry and craft of telling stories with pictures.
This year’s festival is delighted to welcome some returning and some new professionals who work in comics, children’s book illustration, animation and more. The event is aimed at students, other professionals, fans of all things creative, pop culture and the general public who would like to meet those who make a living creating and learn something about how they do it.
Proudly supported by Waterford City and County Council WICAF welcomes a host of Waterford and Ireland based talent to the city to show and tell you all about what is involved in bringing the likes of Spiderman, Shaun The Sheep, Wallace & Gromit, Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and more to our screens and books.
There is a wide canvas of guests confirmed to speak and demonstrate their expertise by way of presentations and hands-on all all-ages workshops. There will be portfolio reviews for professional advice on how best to present work for college and career advancement, a festival shop and much, much more on this second year of what is now an annual gathering of creatives in Ireland’s oldest city.
With more and more creative industry professionals coming to live in Waterford the opportunities for those wanting to break into the business and meet those already working internationally from the Déise.

WICAF 2025 takes place in the amazing new Waterford Comics store on Park Road in the city centre on Saturday May 31st and Sunday June 1st from 11am to 6 pm each day. Admission is only €10 per person on the door, allowing full access to all classes and workshops on offer, along with a meet and greet with the guests along the way.
