Waterford Gardai caught a driver committing three road offences last weekend as they were out “spreading Christmas cheer.”
In an online post, Gardai said that Unit D were “spreading Christmas cheer” in Waterford when they came across a motorist who was driving without insurance, tax or NCT.
They concluded the post by stating while some people may be sending Christmas cards, they will be sending a summons to the driver for a Court appearance to follow.
This comes after Waterford Gardai made an arrest for drink driving following a checkpoint conducted on Rice Bridge on Sunday, 30 November. “The driver of a vehicle was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, having failed [a] roadside breath test and brought to Waterford Garda Station. [A] further breath test showed the driver was almost four times over the legal limit. Charged and court to follow,” Gardai said on their Facebook page.
The checkpoint was conducted as part of Operation Thor.
