A young motorcyclist was recently told by a Judge that his charge of dangerous driving arising out of a road collision would not be reduced.

Angelo Zago (23) of 26 Glenconnor, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, appeared before Judge Peter White at Waterford District Court last month, charged with dangerous driving.

The court was told that on 25 July, 2023, Gardaí were alerted to a collision between a motorbike and a car near Pouldrew, Kilmeaden. A man, who was identified as the accused, was driving the motorbike, and it is alleged that he collided with an oncoming vehicle after veering to the wrong side of the road while going around a bend.

It was also stated that the accused was thrown from his motorbike in the collision, and received treatment at University Hospital Waterford (UHW) for injuries.

Acting for the defendant, solicitor John O’Donohue said that his client had paid compensation to the owner of the car for damages, and enquired about whether the dangerous driving charge could be reduced to a lesser charge.

Judge White said that the charge against the accused would remain as dangerous driving, and adjourned the case to 9 April 2026, when it will be mentioned again.
