Gardaí are investigating a suspected arson attack in Waterford city in the early hours of this morning (Thursday, 16 April).
The incident occurred shortly before 3.00 am at a house in the Larchville area of Waterford city. Gardaí, fire crew and emergency services attended the scene of the fire.
Gardaí believe a petrol bomb may have been used in the incident.
A man aged in his 50s, who was present in the house at the time was transported to University Hospital Waterford (UHW) for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Three dogs which were also in the house at the time did not survive.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed to The Munster Express that Gardaí and fire services responded to reports of an alleged criminal damage by fire incident at a residential premises in Waterford City in the early hours of Thursday morning, 16 April.
“The scene is currently held for technical examination,” the spokesperson said.
