While all the worry about the public finances is about, the facts are that major jobs do need to be done. Some of this could be done on a semi voluntary basis.
With so many building workers unemployed we wonder what is possible for them to do. In communities local people can assist unemployed electricians to work for the community.
This could be in assisting hard pressed community centres, clubs and even schools who have their own financial troubles now. Cycle lanes and other environmental works could also be carried out.
An assessment of community needs could be undertaken to see what is possible and what can be done, whether it be a cycle path along the river in Waterford from the Dunmore Road or one to the Sandhills in Tramore, now may be the time to undertake them.
