Communities in Waterford have been asked to dig deep and come up with almost €80,000 – in money, manpower or tools – towards the cost of repairing three local roads, under a new pilot scheme announced this week.
The Community Involvement in Road Works Scheme, launched by Junior Transport Minister Alan Kelly on Monday, has asked locals to fork out €79,000 (20 per cent) out of the overall €395,000 required to repair three roads in the locality – or get their shovels out and start fixing the roads themselves!
