In all the teams have met on six occasions and Waterford have come out on top in all of those meetings. The Blues team was unchanged from the one which defeated Wexford Youths the previous week. The only difference was that Willie John Kiely was added to the subs bench. This was not by any means a vintage display by the home side, but apart from an early scare they were never in any real danger of losing.
