Carrick United; 2 Ferrybank 1

Newly-promoted Ferrybank, who had defeated Tramore and Waterford Crystal to get their new season back in the Premier League off to the perfect start, were a little unlucky not to get something from this game in Tom Drohan Park.

Alan Ryan had a penalty saved midway through the first period but following through he made no mistake to put Carrick in front.

Five minutes into the second half James Walsh increased the home sides advantage but two minutes later Kevin “Goosey” Roche scored his second league goal of the new campaign to bring Ferrybank right back into the game.

The remainder of the match saw the visitors go all out in search of an equaliser but the Carrick defence held firm under sever pressure.
