Carrick United’s interest in this season’s FAI Junior Cup came to an end in Tom Drohan Park on Sunday afternoon last. They never recovered from a missed penalty by Thomas Fitzgerald on 34 minutes. The ace marksman blasted the ball over the crossbar.
The Dubliners were reduced to 10 men when Paul Tobin was sent packing just before half-time. Five minutes after the interval, Michael Coady of Carrick was also sent for an early shower. Central defender Paul Breen won the game for St Michaels eight minutes from full time when the home defenders could not clear a free kick properly.
