Carrick United 5 Hibernians 1

Sunday, December 6th is a date which will be pencilled into many people’s diaries this week. That is the day when Carrick United and Tramore meet in the next stage of the FAI Junior Cup following the two games which did go ahead last weekend.
The two clubs have dominated the Waterford Premier League in recent years and this cup tie will dominate the first weekend of the last month of 2009. Some weeks ago Hibernians made Carrick United fight all the way in a league game and were a little unlucky to lose one-nil but that was not the case in Tom Drohan Park, Coolnamuck on Sunday last.
Alan Coady put the home side in front just after the half-hour mark and from then on it was a case of one-way traffic. Michael Coady made it 2-0 from the penalty spot early in the second half and then Wayne Fitzgerald got in on the scoring act.
Alan Coady scored his second goal of the game before Ian Cleary completed the scoring for the home outfit. David McGrath scored late on for the visitors, who also had John Boland red carded before the full-time whistle.
