Tramore 1; Waterford Crystal 2

An experienced Waterford Crystal team, free from commitments in cup competitions, have jumped to the top of the table following a hard-earned victory in Graun Park on Saturday night.

With top notch performers Brendan Rea and ace marksman Martin Tynan scoring it comes as no real surprise that this team are once again playing a big part in the title race.

Tramore took the lead after 36 minutes. Good work by Robbie Phelan set up Gavin Falconer and the talented youngster fired home his first Premier League goal of the season.

Three minutes later Brendan Rea equalised for the visitors when his half hit shot went under the body of the Tramore goalkeeper Kevin Burns.

Joe Watson, another of Crystal’s experienced players, displayed wonderful one-touch control to set up Martin Tynan for what proved to be the winning goal on 55 minutes.

Tramore did go close to getting a point from the game in the final minute when Derek Hearne could only parry a free-kick taken by Robbie Phelan but when the ball broke lose to Sean Browne he shot across the goal.
