The last section of dual carriageway on the new Waterford to Dublin road is due to be officially opened on Thursday, September 9th. The Knocktopher to Powerstown link will eliminate the need for drivers to access the capital via Thomastown or Kilkenny city as there will be a continuous dual carriageway from the Dunkitt roundabout, just outside Waterford city, all the way to Dublin. Driving time between the capital and Waterford will be cut further once the new section is opened which should also boost business and trade into Waterford and the South East.
Yes! My kids will be so happy. After landing in Dublin from a long flight from Los Angeles, the thing they have hated more than anything, is the drive from Dublin to Waterford. Well done on getting this completed.
Delighted! As a Waterford man living in Belfast for the past 19 years, I have seen my journey time reduce from 6 hours to 3hours and 20 mins as the roads have gradually been converted to motorway. With this last section it should shave another 20 mins off the journey time making it possible from to visit Waterford from Belfast for the afternoon!
