Saturday and Sunday last proved to be glory days for the Villa Under 15 side, the Waterford Under 16 Development outfit and the Waterford Crystal Youth team.

Villa defeated Albion Rovers on penalties following a 2-2 draw in the SFAI Cup. Kevin Feely put Villa in front before Eoin Osbourne equalised for Albion. Padraig Grace then gave Albion Rovers the lead in extra-time before Kevin Feeley netted a late, late goal for Villa.

The Waterford side won the penalty shoot-out 4-3 with successful spot-kicks from Jack Gaule, Kevin Feeley, Adam Potter and Jonathan McEvoy.

Waterford were much too strong for a Clare team at the RSC on Sunday. The previous week they easily beat West Waterford-East Cork and on this occasion they were to powerful for Clare. Augustine Ademoyne, the Hibernians player, chipped in with a brace. Keith O’Connor (OG), Zach Shanahan and Robin Spencer were the other goalscorers.

In the Munster Youth Cup, Waterford Crystal travelled to Co Limerick to play Knockanenny and they booked a place in the semi final by winning 2-0 with goals from Shane Rochford and Jason Foran. They will now play either Bohemians from Waterford or Togher Celtic in the last four.

Happy days indeed for our young Waterford footballers.
