The Granville Hotel on the Quay in Waterford city has been voted into the ‘Top 10 Greatest Carvery Venues in Ireland’. The announcement follows months of judging and unannounced carvery reviews in hundreds of pubs, restaurants and hotels across the country by a panel of judges including the broadcaster George and Willie Somers, executive chef at Unilever Foodsolutions which sponsors the awards.

The Granville Hotel was awarded the accolade for three of its dishes which particularly impressed the judges, Roast Beef, Chicken Curry and Sheppard’s Pie.

Head chef of the Granville Hotel, Stephen Hooper, said the team was thrilled to be voted one of Ireland’s Top 10 Great Carvery venues for 2010. “Our carvery has been extremely popular with customers here for many years so it is great to be recognised by food and industry experts for the food and service we provide seven days a week. I’d like to congratulate all our staff, especially our carvery chefs who have worked very hard to ensure we are Waterford’s Carvery Champion.”

The Top Ten venues are The Granville Hotel, Waterford; The Bull McCabe’s, Kinsale Road, Cork; Hibernian, Mallow; Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill; Poitin Stil, Rathcoole, Dublin; Beaumont House, Dublin; The Yacht, Clontarf, Dublin (overall winner); Halfway House, Drimnagh, Dublin; Mulcahy’s Hotel, Clonmel; Westgrove Hotel, Clane, County Meath.
