Waterford Hospice has paid tribute to the 1,000 runners, walkers and joggers who yet again made the 2010 Munster Express/Caulfield’s SuperValu an unbridled success on Sunday last.
While emerging talent Shane Quinn (Ferrybank AC) and Pauline Lambe (Waterford AC) were the first male and female to respectively break the tape, Hospice’s Pat O’Gorman expressed his gratitude to each and every competitor.
“On behalf of Waterford Hospice, I can only offer a heartfelt thanks to The Munster Express, to Caulfield’s SuperValu and to every man, woman and child who took to the roads on Sunday,” he said.
“The Munster Express, now proudly in its 150th year and Caulfield’s SuperValu are to be commended for their efforts in staging and co-ordinating this run.
“Along with the invaluable contributions made by Waterford AC, An Garda Síochána, the Order of Malta and Waterford City Council, this annual run continues to attract entrants in their hundreds, which is a great achievement.
“That all who entered are supporting the valuable and ongoing work which Hospice provides across Waterford city and county, as well as South Kilkenny, is a tremendous reflection on the general public’s respect and affection for the work we do throughout this area.”
