WIT stormed to the top of the DUFL Premier South Division following this latest victory which was recorded at the RSC last week.
Both sides were locked together at the top of the league prior to kick off and a close contest was in prospect. At half time nothing had changed because the teams were tied together at a goal apiece.
However when John Frost, the former Waterford United captain who has also played for St Patrick’s Athletic, Sporting Fingal and now Limerick, put WIT in front with a wonder strike the goals flowed for the Waterford outfit and as a result any sort of positive result against UCC in their next game will put them through to the knockout stages.
It took WIT just eight minutes to get off the mark. Ian Crowley crossed the ball into the penalty area from the right and the impressive Craig Maguire found the net with a glancing header which entered the net off the inside of the back upright.
