Contrary to some persisting public confusion, the annual September Fun Run in Waterford City, which The Munster Express has co-sponsored since 2001, will be held again this year.

In association with Caulfield’s SuperValu, this year’s 10 Kilometre Fun Run will bring walkers, joggers around the city – starting and finishing at the Regional Sports Centre on Sunday, September 14th.

“There appears to be a little confusion out there currently concerning the Fun Run and we’d like to assure regular entrants that the run will be once again held on September 14th, with the event starting at 12 noon,” said Munster Express Advertising Manager Liz McGough.

“We’ve had quite a few entries already being handed into our office, which is great, so the message that both ourselves and Caulfield’s SuperValu have been communicating with the public has obviously been reaching some quarters of the city, county and beyond already.

“We will be advertising heavily on local radio over the next few weeks, as well as within our own pages and online and we hope that the Run will once again maintain its status as the largest annual mass-entry sporting event held in the city.”

As well as raising money for a charity to be nominated by The Munster Express and Caulfield’s SuperValu through the €10 entry fee, the Fun Run has become a fantastic fundraising vehicle for several local worthy causes.

“We’re thrilled that the Run has become so popular and so readily associated with the people of Waterford assisting so many different bodies, support groups and charities,” added Liz McGough. “And long may that remain the case!”
