A multi-million euro contract to manage facilities at Waterford and Tallaght Institutes of Technology over a 25-year period has been put out to tender.

The National Development Finance Agency, on behalf of the Minister for Education and Skills, has advertised the contract under the Third Level PPP Programme.

The brief is to design, build, finance and maintain five facilities across the two campus sites from the date of their completion up to around January 2039.

The WIT facilities comprise a Business and Enterprise Centre and an Engineering School Building. Three projects are involved at Tallaght.

It’s expected that the cost involved will be met “by private funding”, and “a funding competition may be held to identify the preferred funder.” The contractor will be paid in monthly installments.

A Market Launch Day is to be held in the coming weeks.
