Now here’s a piece of trivia for you. Kilkenny, Cork and Tipperary have all failed to reach the All-Ireland semi-final stage in this year’s Minor and Under-21 Championships.

In the past few seasons, Clare, Dublin and Waterford have made massive strides at underage level and one believes that at least one of these counties is about to make a major senior breakthrough.

The powers that be in Croke Park would appear to be of the mind that their preferred county of that trio would be Dublin. And with so much money having been spent in revitalising hurling in the capital, one can understand why.
