The facilitation process to get the botched merger between Waterford and Carlow institutes back on track has concluded.
Jane Williams of Sia Partners management consultants, was appointed late last summer to oversee a preliminary process of facilitation between both institutes ahead of a possible resumption of dialogue. This followed a report by former Higher Education Authority chief Michael Kelly which concluded that the merger could not move forward unless the deep distrust between the two was not tackled first.
Ms Williams is to present her findings and recommendations on the possibility of a Technological University of the South East to a joint meeting of the Governing Bodies of Waterford and Carlow next Friday.
After Friday, both bodies are expected to separately review the findings and then make a decision on future engagements between the two institutes.
