On Saturday last at The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dublin the National Athletic Awards Banquet took place and Waterford was very much to the fore as three awards came to the County.

Kelly Proper (Ferrybank AC) took the Best Field Athlete of the year Award, richly deserved after another fine year at every level.

In the national singlet, Kelly competed in major championships and also retained her Irish Indoor and Outdoor Long Jump Championships, while setting a new National record in the Long jump.

Ferrybank AC also won the Best Club In Ireland award while the Hall Of Fame award went to John Treacy.

The Villierstown man won his Olympic silver 25 years ago and claimed the second of his back to back World Cross Country titles back in 1979. Congratulations to all concerned.
