Gareth Cronin refused to get too upset after watching his side drop two more points, following on from the two dropped against Longford Town the previous week, when he spoke after the Athlone game. He said: “The conditions were dreadful. The wind and the pitch made good football very hard. We should have scored, especially in the second half. Luke Fitzpatrick had a good chance but he put the ball over the bar. We need to be more clinical in front of goal, but there is no need to panic just yet. I will admit that it is a worry not to be scoring more goals but at the other end we are looking strong and solid.

“A clean sheet tonight is a bonus. Dave Warren was superb again and what I need is more players to step up to the plate like him. To look at the positive side of things we are still unbeaten and with Sporting Fingal next for us, followed by another home game against Limerick 37 the time has come for us to get things together properly. Vinny Sullivan is the type of player who thrives on confidence and I have no doubt when he scores he will really start to find the net on a regular basis. We are there near the top but now we must kick on from here”.
