A proposed 51-house development on a site which includes Coady’s Pond in Bilberry has been met with opposition from local residents, along with the Irish Wildlife Trust.
The applicant, Mr Michael Hanrahan, wishes to build 51 houses, composed of three and four bedroom dormers, along with split-level two-storey and three-storey detached and semi-detached dwellings.
Mr Hanrahan has also applied for permanent entrances to the site (part of which overlooks the former Iron Foundry) on both the Gracedieu Road and Quarry Road.
The pond, which Bilberry’s famed feral goats historically used as their local watering hole, is an area which holds a special place in many local and visiting hearts.
