Penney’s eagerly-awaited three storey shop on Barronstrand Street will open to the public on 30th November, the company has confirmed.
With a retail area covering 19,800 sq ft, spread over two floors, the new store will feature a much-expanded Primark range, including a homeware section.
The opening of the new store represents an €8m investment in the city centre by Primark and construction included leveling the former Egan’s pub which the company bought in 2004 for €5.5m.
Some 80 construction and engineering jobs were created during the development phase, while the company received a whopping 1,319 applications for 60 additional fulltime and 70 part-time positions at the expanded shop, of which 378 candidates were interviewed.
