There was a touch of autumn chill outside Christ Church Cathedral for the Cologne New Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra.

A capacity audience tingled with chatter and anticipation. What they got was a young group of seven talented musicians and for passages in the first half, this was like a solo violin concert with sometimes six accompanists and often just a string quartet sound.

The solo work was good but at times it was a short dash to complete quick familiar movements.

The audience seemed very happy and enjoyed their night out.
