Devised and produced by Michael O’Donoghue a true devotee of opera and musical theatre, the Gaudeamus Productions concert presentation of The Irish Ring was a powerful testament to good music and happy moments and the standing ovation was well deserved by six fine principals and a wonderful mixed choir at the Simon Ryan Excel Theatre in Tipperary Town.
This was a brave and important venture to present so well and so wonderfully something as difficult often talked about but rarely presented. O’Donoghue enlisted the assistance of Danny Carroll as conductor and musical director and the amazing Mary Rose McNally as MD. Her work on the keyboards was an amazing addition to a superb evening.
