Bright, low sunshine, streamed in the windows of Christ Church Cathedral as the exuberant Tramore Gospel Choir served up a seasonable Coffee Concert. The mood was festive and the songs created a feeling of hope, happiness and the joy of being alive. The choir sang out that swaying sing-along joy, a sharing of bad times, of good times and better times like a Slow Train Coming.

John Buckley led the line in Go Down Moses as the Curtis Mayfield tune, People Get Ready as the choir gentled into some contemporary Christian songs like the powerful Soon and Very Soon (Going To See The King) and the sweet and reflective Give Me Jesus.

Jane O’Brien Moran directed this choir with her own guitar accompaniment and Damien O’Brien’s fine keyboard work. The Soweto Gospel Choir version of Hosanna – Jesus Died and Rose Again was beautiful and uplifting before the choir rocked the gathering with a glorious Go Tell It on the Mountain from the pre-Dylan protest era.
