Variations in the time recorded on the city’s on-street parking machines are resulting in motorists paying over the odds for parking on a regular basis.
The Munster Express has received complaints from a number of motorists who have noticed time discrepancies on some of the city’s ‘pay and display’ machines – in all cases, the clock on the machine was running some minutes slow. This meant the motorists in question had to pay for parking that they didn’t use.
The current rate of parking within the city’s designated ‘pay and display’ area is €1.80 per hour, though it is possible to pay in increments of 20c if you require a shorter stay.
