Three men were escorted back to shore by members of Tramore RNLI last Friday evening, after their homemade raft – made from wooden pallets – was deemed unsafe. The three men were not wearing any lifejackets when they were spotted by a member of the public in the sea off Kilfarassy Beach shortly after 6.30pm. Tramore RNLI and the Irish Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 117 were both called to the scene, 600 metres offshore, where they requested that the men return to shore on the lifeboat for their safety.
