This week I thought it would be appropriate time of year to learn about the work of St Vincent de Paul who provide such a valuable much needed service among those in need and inspire us all to think beyond the self to literally raise our spirits. This world wide organisation was founded by a French man, Frederic Ozanam. St Vincent de Paul was adopted as their patron saint and hence the name. One of Waterford’s streets is named in his honour. So who was Frederic Ozanam and what circumstances inspired him to found such a worthy organization? Well here is a short resume of his life and times.
