A road traffic offence is being committed every 90 seconds at the traffic lights/pedestrian crossing at Waterford Bus Station and Dooley’s Hotel on The Quay.
During a 45-minute study conducted from the Quayside yesterday (Thursday) morning, The Munster Express noted 32 separate breaches of the Road Traffic Act, which amounted to one recorded offence every time the lights changed sequence.
Virtually all of the offences involved motorists breaking the red light, with several more cars and trucks visibly accelerating as the light switched to amber in advance of the red light.
From first hand evidence over the past two years, along with feedback from staff and adjoining businesses, these findings come as little surprise.
