The close-knit community of Glenmore is in mourning this week following the tragic death of local woman Mary Long (61) in a road traffic accident last Saturday night.
Mrs Long (nee Martin), of Ballyveria, Glenmore, was killed in a collision on the N25 Waterford to New Ross road at Carrigunura, Slieverue at around 7.45pm.
The mother of four was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was later removed to the morgue at University Hospital Waterford.
The male driver of the second car received minor injuries and was taken to UHW for treatment. The road was closed to traffic throughout Saturday night, with local diversions in place.
The deceased, the wife of Willie Long, was driving back to her home in Glenmore when the tragedy occurred.
She has been remembered locally as a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a well-respected member of the community who had a passion for camogie and GAA.
