Waterford Crystal continued their recent good form on Sunday morning when they defeated a lifeless St Saviour’s team in Ballybeg. The torrential rain which fell during the entire game failed to dampen the spirits of the victors who were in total control for the majority of the match.

To make matters worse for the Saints they finished the game with only nine players as both John Paul Jacob and Trevor O’Regan were ordered to open up a bar of soap by referee Tony Walsh during the last 20 minutes.

The game never reached any great heights in truth, but the two first-half goals scored by Crystal were out of the top drawer. The three points gained have put Crystal two ahead of St Saviour’s in the league table, and going on this performance the management team of Alfie Hale, Michael Walsh and Aidan Swift have plenty of hard work ahead of them in Ballybeg.
