Kilkenny 2-16 Waterford 1-13

Waterford’s hopes of progressing to the Allianz League Final received a fatal blow in Kilkenny last Sunday when they were beaten by six points by Brian Cody’s charges.

On a very poor surface, the Cats required two very fortunate second half goals, one of which had a definite hint of square ball about it, to secure the two vital league points.

Kilkenny and TJ Reid in particular got off to a flying start and the Ballyhale sharp-shooter, a late replacement for the ill Michael Fennelly scored the game’s opening points in the first and fourth minutes.
