The Irish man who was shot dead in Namibia at the weekend is former Garda Detective Ray Prendiville, who was stationed in Waterford for many years. Mr Prendiville (62), a native of Scartaglen, County Kerry and former inter-county footballer, was shot in the tourist resort town of Walvis Bay last Friday, while he worked as a security contractor. It is not yet clear what exactly happened, but Mr Prendiville, a father of five, was found dead at his business partner’s flat on Hage Geingob St. He had been in the southern Africa country on the invitation of his business partner, police have said. Five men were arrested following the shooting.
