The countdown to the forthcoming Carrick-on-Suir Motor Club 50th anniversary Motorsport Festival continues, with multiple Irish tarmac champion Eugene Donnelly confirmed among the event’s driver line-up for June 7th and 8th.

Former World featherweight boxing champion Barry McGuigan will join Donnelly as a driver on a special circuit being created at the South Kilkenny site.

A three-lap trip with one of these drivers, which also includes Irish Group N tarmac champion Colm Murphy, is priced at €25. For three more laps, the price is doubled at €50.

James Foley Rallysport has been busy recruiting drivers for this unique driving experience, with well-known drivers Paul Kiely, James Cassidy, Gabriel Martin, Michael Murray and James himself also confirmed for the event.

The proceeds raised from these ‘rally spins’ will be donated to the festival’s beneficiaries- the National Rehabilitation Hospital and the Children’s Medical and Research Foundation in Crumlin.

James Foley Rallysport and Jim Crozier of Sunoco Fuels have committed to covering the high costs associated with running the six Mitsubishi rally cars on the track over both days.

Thanks to Tom Geraghty Tyres, festival organisers have confirmed that a Ferrari F1 car will also be on display at the main arena over the weekend.

Gareth Lloyd of West Wales Rally Spares has also confirmed he is to attend the Festival with his original ex-Works Roger Clarke RS 1800 Mark 11 Escort.

It’s also hoped that some of the bikes raced by the late great Joey and Robert Dunlop will also be on display in Piltown.

World Rally Team Ireland, currently joint second in the Junior World Championship, will be in attendance at the Motorsport Festival, fresh from their fourth place finish at Rally Italy.

Hopes remain high that driver Shaun Gallagher will be able to make it to an event which organisers are confident will attract 30,000 visitors the weekend after next.

Trade stands are invited to display their wares on both days for a nominal fee and for further information, Michael Haley is available at 087-9399119.

Tickets are priced €10 (on each day) with children under 12 free of charge while OAP tickets are priced at €5.
