KellyPropern Saturday last four athletes from Ferrybank AC, including Kelly Proper (pictured), competed at an indoor meeting in Loughborough College, England.

Kelly had a good effort in the Long Jump, taking second place with 6.33 metres. The event was won by Jessica Ennis, the World Heptathlon Champion, who jumped 6.39 metres in the same event. Ferrybank’s Nicola Power was fifth with 5.55 metres.

In the 60 metres, Niamh Whelan also had a good start to her season when she finished third in 7.60 seconds, with Kelly behind her in fifth place with 7.66 seconds.

In the men’s 60 metres, their clubmate Christopher Russell was unplaced.

In Scotland on Saturday, Alex Flynn competed in a 4km race at the Edinburgh Cross Country Festival over a very snowy course and finished fourth in a very big field of runners; he was timed at 13 minutes 37 seconds and the race was won in 12 minutes and 41 seconds. This was a curtain raiser to the big international races at the same venue.
