Clarification has been sought on the circumstances where Irish Water is liable to fix household repairs.
At the Metropolitan District’s February meeting, Cllr Davy Daniels (Ind) said there is huge confusion amongst householders since Irish Water.
“Who is responsible from the boundary wall of a property out to the drains?” he asked. “I’ve been told it’s the resident’s problem but that hasn’t been the case in the past, where a resident has to break up a footpath to fix a leak. The responsibility is being shifted on to the householder and this is a serious issue.”
