Waterford’s Paul Power and Limerick's Niall Maher in a close exchange during Sunday’s curtain raiser.

Limerick 2-12;   Waterford 2-9

For the first time in three seasons, Waterford failed to qualify for the Munster Intermediate final when they went under to a very good Limerick team in Thurles last Sunday.

In truth, Limerick were by far the better team and the score line didn’t do justice to their superiority. That the eight Waterford forwards who saw service on Sunday could only muster a goal from play in an hour’s hurling tells the story of the game.
