Waterford United recorded their first victory of the current campaign on Friday night when they got the better of a dogged Finn Harps outfit. Following a draw against Athlone Town on the opening day and then a defeat in Monaghan it was imperative that a three points were secured here. For 77 minutes it looked as if another stalemate was on the cards, but thankfully the goalscoring instincts of Willie John Kiely saved another embarrassing outcome.
