PantoGirlsThe Waterford Pantomime Society celebrated its 25th Anniversary with a snappy and polished production of Sleeping Beauty that rang all the bells, tooted all the whistles, swashed and buckled and entertained.

This Bryan Flynn production dispelled any chill of snow, frost or icy temperatures with a rocking good pit under the guidance of Wayne Brown and a live band. The sets by Spraoí were top class and Aidan McGrath’s tight lighting heightened the atmosphere and added depth to Patrice Power’s costumes.

The pit rocked into Snow is Falling, Happy Christmas Everyone as Donal O’Flynn in one of his many cameos led the action into No One Mourns from Wicked. This was modern spectacle panto, fast moving and fun with passing references to the legend, the traditional panto by way of Lord of the Rings and Glee.

Mags Keane excelled on make-up and Michelle Condon’s choreography was vivid, exciting and added much to the glamour and occasion.
