The two-day meeting at Tramore on Sunday and Monday witnessed some terrific fare. Local Dungarvan trainer John Kiely certainly kept his many supporters happy at the opening session by saddling Cloth Fair to triumph with David Casey in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Mares Maiden Hurdle.

Cloth Fair, who previously shaped with promise in bumpers, led from two out to defeat Itsmylife by seven lengths in the hands of David Casey. It wouldn’t be at all surprising if Cloth Fair continues in a victorious vein for the immediate future.

The Adrian Maguire-trained Optimus Prime gamely beat favourite Le Toscan with Colman Sweeney in the featured Waterford & Tramore Directors Chase with amateur Colman Sweeney whilst Paul Cashman’s mare Indian Love caused a 12/1 upset with Johnny Allen in the Graun Hill Beginners Chase.
