On Saturday last in Athlone four athletes from Waterford competed for Ireland in the Celtic Juvenile International Track and Fields meeting and all four did very well with three of them winning events.

Ciara Giles Doran, Ferrybank AC, in the U16 grade won the 75m hurdles in 11.12 seconds and her clubmate Megan Kiely in the U18 section clocked 42.93 seconds in winning the 300m Hurdles, both with personal-best times.

The third winner was Zoe Scanlon, West Waterford in the U18 Discus with a throw of 36.64m and she was also third in the Shot Putt with 10.59m.

Lisa Houlihan, also from West Waterford was second in the U18 Pole Vault with a mark of 3.10 metres. Ireland won the match with 169 points and Scotland were second on 155. Wales were third on 145.
