The season started well for the young athletes from Stella Maris, Tramore, in the recent Waterford Schools Cross-Country Championships in Dungarvan.

First year student Lucy John ran an excellent race in the minor girls. Lucy remained in 6th position for most of the race and only felt the pace a little towards the end of the race.

It was a promising performance for her first time running this distance and to finish in a credible 17th position.

Aoife O’Sullivan, 2nd Year, put in an excellent performance to win the Junior Girls title. She controlled the entire race, leading from the start and opened a significant gap, which she maintain throughout and finished very strongly.

Well done to her team-mates, Aine Treacy, Jann Mc Donald and Morgan John, who all ran exceptionally well for their first time over this distance.
