They may be struggling somewhat in the Waterford Premier League but the Villa are through to the last four of the Munster Junior Cup following an impressive second-half performance against North Tipperary outfit Nenagh FC in Connors Park on Sunday afternoon.
Villa will meet Clonmel Town in the semi final on Sunday, April 18th and the venue is likely to be Cahir Park. On the same day, Carrick United will play Pike Rovers from Limerick in Jackman Park in the other semi.
The Clonmel manager Martin Quinilvan was present to watch this game and the former Waterford United goalkeeper, a legend with many Blues supporters, admitted that he was impressed by their display after the break. “They appeared to have more class in the second period and they moved the ball around the park very well and fully deserved their victory. We will take nothing for granted against them in two weeks time” said the man otherwise known as ‘Blossom’ to Blues fans. Martin led Clonmel Town to glory in the FAI Junior Cup in 1996 and he has now guided them to the last four of that competition once again.
