Waterford Crystal, who captured the Division 2A League title recently, are still on course for the double after getting the better of Division 2B outfit Tycor in Ozier Park on Saturday afternoon.
Crystal took the lead with nine minutes remaining but Tycor grabbed their equaliser four minutes into stoppage time, but sadly from their point of view it all went horribly wrong in the penalty shoot-out.
Waterford Crystal had a half-chance after 14 minutes when Ian Barry picked out Mark Cannon, but he was unable to keep his balance as he headed the ball towards the Tycor goal.
Four minutes later Tycor went close when Damien Kelly rose to meet a long-range free kick taken by Brendan O’Shea but his header went across the Crystal goalmouth.
Crystal were on the back foot at this stage and Pat Kelly was unlucky to see his header come crashing back off an upright after he had met a left-wing cross from John Burke.
