Wexford Youths are the overall winners of the Beat 102-103 Talbot Hotel Carlow South East Sports Personality Award for 2008.
The Under 18 team managed by Mick Wallace beat off stiff competition from a host of other sports stars in the region to take the title, decided via an online vote on www.beat102103.com
The judging panel comprised ‘Beat’ sports journalist Martin Clancy, Philip Gavin of the Talbot Hotel Group and Terry Reilly, Sports Editor, Carlow Nationalist. Commentating legend Micheal O’Muirheartaigh was guest speaker at the gala awards dinner in the Talbot Hotel in Carlow on January 16.
The Waterford Crystal trophy, designed by John Rocha, was accepted by members of the team which won the FAI All-Ireland Youths Inter-League Trophy and then the FAI Youth Cup – the former after a hard-fought 1-0 win over the Waterford District League.

- An Rinn GAA Club, Comortas Peile na Gaeltachta Junior title winners, Waterford
- Johnny Ryan from Kilkenny, Irish National Powerlifting Championships
- Jaydon Britton from Carlow, winner of a Gold and two Bronze Medals in the UK Transplant Games
- Rosslare Golf Club, Under 18 All-Ireland Champions, Wexford
- Brian McCormack from Tramore. Irish Superbike Champion, Waterford
- Richard Beel, World Kickboxing Champion, Wexford
