BrianMurphyBrian Murphy, the Ipswich Town goalkeeper broke his ankle training with the team the day before Christmas Eve. The former Waterford Bohemians goalkeeper was rushed to the Ipswich General Hospital and x-rays confirmed the serious injury. The Williamstown Road native played in all of Ipswich Town’s Carling Cup games this season and would have played against Arsenal in the two legged semi final during early January. However he will now be out of action for at least two months.
Brian also played four league games for Roy Keane’s charges this term. Keane admitted that Brian has been unlucky all season and this latest setback is another blow for the talented custodian. When he joined the club from the then League of Ireland champions Bohemians, he also suffered a long term injury which delayed his debut with the Suffolk club. Murphy is now expected to return to Waterford to recover for a number of weeks before he returns to Ipswich.
