Gala All-Ireland Junior Camogie Final: Waterford v Antrim, Croke Park, Sunday, 12pm.
Dual star Gráinne Kenneally is likely to be one of Waterford’s leading performers in Sunday’s All-Ireland junior decider at Croke Park.
“We were very disappointed last September with how things went,” she told The Munster Express in advance of Sunday’s final.
“We knew we didn’t do ourselves justice which was the biggest insult of all. Whatever about winning or losing the game, we didn’t do ourselves justice on the pitch so hopefully we can make things right next Sunday.”
Poc Fada champion and a goal scorer in last year’s final, Patricia Jackman echoed her team mate’s sentiments.
“For the last twelve months, all we’ve been thinking about is getting back there,” said Patricia. “On the day, we didn’t do ourselves justice and hopefully this year, we will make amends and come back with the cup on Sunday night.”
Waterford captain Mairead Murphy (St Anne’s) picked up on what was evidently a common thread running through the fabric of the Deise panel.
“The experience gained from last year is massive and we were anxious to get back there to make up for last year,” she began.
“There is pressure on us and we are probably going in with the favourite’s tag. In our camp, we don’t see it like that and we know that we have to go out and deliver and forget about last year, leave all inhibitions aside, get on with it and come away with the cup.”
And what of Antrim? “Some of the lads have seen them play this year. We know we have a big challenge ahead of us.
